Lesson: The Moon Spins Around the Earth Spins Around the Sun

I created the lesson plan below for a fifth-grade science lesson. Utilizing iPads in the classroom, students work in groups to explore the Sun-Earth-Moon system. While watching the pre-determined educational video on YouTube, students write down terms that catch their attention. Next, the students research the terms so that they can create a Keynote slideshow on their iPads defining the terms. In addition, students will use the iPads to create a short video modeling the Sun-Earth-Moon system. Lastly, students are told to save their work as they will present a comprehensive project for a Science-related Show and Tell day.

This artifact supports demonstrates ISTE Standard 1c because the iPad and Keynote tools serve as collaborative mechanisms encouraging reflection of key terms while constructing creative framework in which to present synthesized research.
