A Mini-Curriculum Project

Below is an artifact created for a fifth-grade reading class that meets Common Core State Standards, as well as ISTE Standard 2c. In order to accommodate diverse learning styles, I designed three pedagogical ideas that explore literature and encourage synthesis. The first idea, Artifact+Illustrator, invites analysis of those authors who illustrate their own books. This activity targets visual learners and asks them to connect multimedia elements to the text. The second idea, Bring the Beat, addresses auditory learners by having them connect music to literary text. My final idea supports kinesthetic learners as they would be required to find images on the Internet, print the images, and then cut and paste items to make Character Indexes.
