Digital Tutorials

These two digital tutorials are examples of multimedia use deisgned to convey educational content. Using various forms of new technology and formats, both tutorials express key ideas. Therefore, each digital tutorial meets ISTE Standard 3c.

Scribus Tutorial: Font Change

This brief tutorial demonstrates how to change the font style in open-source software Scribus. The video was made by screencasting content on the computer screen and audio from the computer's microphone. In this case, Jing software was used. After capturing the screencast video, it was uploaded to Screencast.com. Once on Screencast.com, the video could then be shared or copied. Specifically, I copied the HTML code and used it to paste to a blog entry.

Instagram Video Tutorial Using Reflector App

This digital tutorial is one of a few that I made for my Moodle unit. In this video I explain the various filter effects offered for video editing using the Instagram application. To create this video I employed the Reflector app from my iPhone. Reflector uses technology from the phone to mirror what is on the screen and imprint that image on another screen. So, for this tutorial, I mirrored my Instagram account onto my laptop. Then I used Screencast-o-matic software to capture the mirrored activity while recording my narration via the laptop microphone. Once complete, I obtained the HTML code from Screencast-o-matic.com and embedded it into my Moodle site as higher-educational content.
